Sick in the Head, Sick in Bed

Only recently, I was telling somebody about how, a few years back, I had the flu and spent one day doing nothing but laying on the sofa and rereading Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. I said it was one of the best days of my life.

???????

Am I an idiot or what? There is nothing good about being sick, Austen or no Austen. I could reread Pride and Prejudice on a freaking white sand beach by Caribbean waters, in perfectly good health. That could be one of the best days of my life. I was insane in the membrane when I told that pretty, little lie about the flu and P&P.

I feel like garbage. Radioactive garbage. I hate being sick.

I dunno, I have some pretty fond memories of having “the mono” at the same time as an ex of mine having mono (“you gave it to me!” “no, YOU gave it to ME!”) & drinking lots of hot toddies & playing Mario Brother III all day.

That sounds all very well, but I have no hot toddies, no video games, no television, and my husband is in annoyingly good health (though he did make me freshly squeezed OJ).

I have nothing to say to THAT. Except to point out that I am up at eight in the morning so that I can go see an Iron Man matinée. & Jenny is soaking up the extra sleep. Waking up early is LIKE being sick.
