Want to Learn How to Write?
I adore many children’s and YA writers, and one of them is Meg Rosoff. In fact, I like her first novel, How I Live Now, so much that I don’t teach it, because if one of my students happened to dislike it I’d feel personally offended. On her website, Ms. Rosoff has posted some Secrets to Being a Successful Writer. Check it out. It’s funny.

“Are you going to Scarborough fair? Parsely, sage, rosemary, and thyme” that song got stuck in my head after reading her entry. From the movie The Graduate…a random thought. =)
If I were to suggest a title for her novel from what she wrote, maybe a cheesey name like “The Evolution of Scars” would work. Forgive me for the lack of originality, but love stories seem to have that effect on me.
Perhaps, some inspiration? I’ve learned that Night gave birth to Love and Strife according to myth. I hope Ms. Rosoff gets help for her title!
Sometimes it actually is like that mentally when writing. The things we must do to suffer for our craft…sigh.
