The Third Scream
There are three kinds of screams in a horror movie:
1) No one can hear you scream
2) Everyone can hear you scream
3) Someone might hear you scream—but, if so, would that person care? Would that person turn out to be a friend, an enemy, or just totally indifferent?
Writing a first blog post feels very much like that third kind of scream.
Despite what this entry has begun to suggest, I’m not such a fan of horror. Though, while spelunking in Hungary, my friend Kevin and I did come up with a great scenario for a scary spelunking movie. I think something like that came out a few years ago. Someone must have been hiding in one of those clay-covered Hungarian caves, eavesdropping!
In news unrelated to horror or spelunking, I finished the first draft of my second novel yesterday. You’d think that would feel great, wouldn’t you? There are moments during the writing process when I am completely happy, and feel soothed and excited, but when I reach The End there’s mostly just an overwhelming awareness of all the manuscript’s flaws and all the work I’m going to have to do to fix them.

Rock on sister!!
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(did you hear that?)
